American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 trauma Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 3-5 years of CVICU experience and an active IL license.

• Acute care setting in a 20-bed, all-private, all-monitored Adult Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit within a Level 1 trauma center
• Patient population includes post open heart surgical patients (CABG, Valves, Dissections, AAA, Vascular procedures, Carotids), STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, TAVRs, and ventilated patients including ICU overflow
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
• Utilizes specialty equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
• Lines managed include PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines (radial and femoral)
• RNs required to titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol
• Charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7
• PCTs on unit with ratios ranging from 1:12 to 1:15
• Respiratory therapists in-house 24/7 managing ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
• Philips telemetry monitoring with monitor techs available, though RNs are expected to read and interpret their own strips
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
• Every other holiday required
• Floating required to every level of care, with travelers expected to take a full team assignment
• Uses EPIC EMR

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS preferred and CCRN a plus
• 3-5 years of CVICU experience strongly preferred
• Must be able to independently manage specialty equipment and complex patient population without additional training
• Strong skills in strip interpretation, assessment, critical thinking, and time management required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment required
• EPIC EMR experience required

• Provide direct bedside care for complex cardiovascular ICU patients including post-surgical, EP, and hemodynamically unstable cases
• Collaborate with CV APNs/PAs, CCS APNs/PAs, and on-call providers
• No particular scrub color required, but attire must be professional and appropriate; scrubs not provided
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling available for travelers
• Local rate applies for candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccination not required for this position
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required experience level
