Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedics Med/Surg unit requiring an active IL license and 1-2 years of postop surgical or general med-surg experience.

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Postop surgical care and general med-surg experience required
• BSN not required for this position

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 43-bed all-private-room Orthopedic unit (6 Ortho)
• Patient population includes medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma fracture cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with PCT support at 1:7-8
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required (Sat/Sun days, Fri/Sat nights)
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Primary charge RN on every shift with 24/7 house supervisor coverage
• House-wide telemetry pack monitoring with Phillips monitors; RNs not required to read their own strips
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and heated high flow, used as needed with RN troubleshooting
• No call or standby requirements
• Travelers are first to float, occasionally to similar Med-Surg floors
• Provide nursing care across a wide variety of medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients
• Unit-specific orientation consists of two shifts in addition to 12 hours of general facility orientation
• Dress code allows any scrub color with an adult professional appearance; tattoos and piercings must be covered
• COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this facility
• Candidates must pass a negative drug screen as part of a drug-free campus policy
