American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment requiring an active IL RN license and at least one year of experience.

• Acute Care Med/Surg unit with 29 beds and a typical census of 22-26 patients
• Mixture of private and semi-private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5:1 on days and 5-6:1 on nights
• Patient population includes GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, elderly falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms
• Patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC or stable BiPAP/CPAP, no ventilator management
• Telemetry patients monitored remotely via house-wide telemetry department using primarily Phillips equipment
• RNs titrate Heparin drips only
• 24-hour Charge RN, Crisis RN, and administrative supervisor coverage available
• 24-hour PCT coverage at a 1:10 ratio
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p
• Every other weekend required (Fri/Sat for nights)
• Holidays rotated among staff
• No call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs float first to other med/surg-like units, excluding ICU and chemo patients

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Must be able to attempt IV starts using unit resources prior to escalation
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

• Provide direct patient care for a diverse range of medical diagnoses on a busy med/surg unit
• Inpatient phlebotomy team handles blood draws
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Any color scrubs permitted, staff must provide their own, pediatric scrubs not allowed
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Local candidates accepted with adjusted pay rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
• COVID vaccination not required for consideration
