American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least one year of ICU experience and NIH Stroke Scale certification on night shift.

• Acute care Neuro (Science) ICU unit with 18 beds
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2
• Patient population includes ventriculostomy, strokes with/without tPA, and craniotomy/craniectomy cases
• 12-hour night shifts on a 36-hour per week schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holiday coverage required, every other holiday
• Floating required to intermediate and general floors, with travelers floating first
• Charge nurse available each shift, though may take an assignment depending on staffing
• 24/7 house supervisor support
• Patient care techs on unit at a 9:1 ratio
• Tele monitor techs staffed every shift using Philips monitors
• EPIC EMR used

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Experience with ventriculostomy, ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines required
• Experience with acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care required
• Must be able to titrate drips per physician orders
• Required to interpret own telemetry strips
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

• Provide critical care nursing to neuro ICU patients including stroke and post-surgical craniectomy cases
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, patient care techs, and tele monitor techs
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 20 hours (one 8-hour shift and one 12-hour shift)
• Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible but receive a reduced local bill rate
• No call or standby requirement for this position
