Overview
The County of San Bernardino is recruiting for Appraiser III. Positions in these classifications perform valuations of Commercial/Industrial and specialty properties; gather and analyze current property data; explain appraisal methods and justification to owners, agents and other interested parties; provide technical assistance to other appraisers on complex appraisal issues; prepare reports, correspondence, and assessment appeals; may appear as an expert witness before the Assessment Appeals Board or in court hearings.

Conditions of EmploymentMinimum Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited four-year institution of higher education.
OR
- Graduation from high school and four years of experience as an accountant, auditor, real property appraiser, building cost estimator, engineer or real estate licensee (licensed by the California Department of Real Estate). Experience must have been obtained within the last ten years.
AND
ExperienceThree (3) years of journey level real property appraisal experience, two of which included appraising commercial-industrial properties.
CertificationApplicants must have a permanent Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization OR a Real Estate Appraiser License (Residential, Certified Residential or Certified General) issued by the California Office of Real Estate Appraisers.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have an advanced Appraiser's Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization and three years of commercial-industrial appraisal experience in a California County Assessor's office.
Selection ProcessEXAMINATION: The exam consists of a competitive assessment of the application and supplemental application; therefore, it is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible on the application materials.
