DescriptionThe Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” In addition, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager also share responsibility for training and motivating teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.

- Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions about the store and merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items.
- Demonstrate product using product knowledge and shared it with teammates.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
- Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals.
- Provide legendary service in front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
- Complete Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in business builders and guest loyalty programs.
- Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Identify recruiting opportunities using jobs cards, referrals, and teammate recommend.
- Coach and develop teammates in sales presentation, loss prevention, and shift orientation.
- Maintain positive floor culture and personal dress code.
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks and use performance tracker.
- Assist in recruitment, training, and onboarding of all store staffing needs.
- Explain pay and benefits to prospective teammates.
- Operations
- Work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Use planner and complete opening/closing checklists.
- Prevent and handle security risks and theft.
- Execute all POS procedures and handle corporate calls.
- Maintain store cleanliness and visual standards.
- Provide feedback to Store Manager on merchandise handling and policies.
- Complete all scheduled shifts and cover when needed.
- Supervisory and Leadership
- Give and receive feedback from peers and management.
- Support leadership and promote store growth.
- Execute interviews and support team development.
- Travel to cover other stores if business needs arise.
- Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Supervisory Responsibilities – Assists the Store Manager in supervising store operations.
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical DemandsRoutine standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, clutching. Adequate vision; moderate noise level within a retail environment.
