Akima Facilities Operations is seeking USMS Court Security Officers to work in Urbana, IL. Join our team of dedicated professionals by applying today!
Responsibilities- Enforce the district's entry and identification system.
- Test and report emergency equipment.
- Patrol court facilities and grounds according to post orders.
- Man USMS authorized stationary posts.
- Provide surveillance on incoming traffic to detect threats before reaching screening areas.
- Provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and others as needed.
- Secure off-site and remote judicial functions with controlled access and screening.
- Direct traffic, control lights, and monitor vehicles and pedestrians as per post orders.
- Provide courtroom security during hearings, enforce laws and orders.
- Handle articles found in court facilities, report incidents within 24 hours.
- Inform supervisors of unusual occurrences and important events.
- Monitor alarms and radio traffic, dispatch or inform others as needed.
- Respond to fire alarms, burglar alarms, and criminal acts.
- Screen vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting the facility.
- Use issued equipment properly.
- Prevent prohibited articles from entering or leaving the facility.
- Escort individuals or vehicles per protocols.
- Maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and training records.
- Use communication devices appropriately.
- Monitor equipment for loss or damage, report immediately.
- Perform duties regardless of weather conditions.
- Log property and equipment movements.
- Secure government property, detain personnel if needed, report unauthorized removal.
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections.
- Issue badges or passes to authorized personnel.
- Monitor access control and RFID systems, respond to alarms.
- Grant access during non-working hours to authorized personnel.
- Report deficiencies in facility systems.
- Perform surveillance for unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
- Support scheduled events and emergencies as requested.
- Maintain activity logs and administrative documents.
- Cooperate with law enforcement, assist in evidence protection, testify as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum 3 years civilian law enforcement or military experience with arrest authority within the last 7 years.
- Certified law enforcement training recognized by relevant authorities.
- Successful background check, drug test, and physical exam.
- Valid, unrestricted state driver’s license.
- Fluent in English, capable of writing reports.
- Meet medical and physical fitness requirements.
- No felony convictions or domestic violence misdemeanors.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
