Steel Fabricator – Big Top Manufacturing

Reports directly to the Steel Fabrication Supervisor. Responsibilities include meeting production objectives, maintaining punctuality, and performing overtime as needed.
Classification- Supervisory Responsibilities: None
- FLSA Classification: Non‑Exempt
- Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
- Read and verify complex sketches prior to producing parts. Check pieces in process against sketches.
- Verify the tube size matches the sketch before running.
- Measure and accurately mark tubing for production.
- Accurately count number of pieces ran.
- Minimize material waste.
- Responsible for care and preventive maintenance of the equipment in use.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
- Assist in training new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
- Follow instructions given by supervisor.
- Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Team player.
- Time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to operate forklift and obtain certification within three months (on‑the‑job training provided).
- Basic understanding of hand tools and how to properly use them.
- Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
- Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
- Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.
- Must be able to accurately exchange information with co‑workers and management.
- Heavy lifting (50 lbs) is required on a regular basis.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
- Ability to remain at workstation for long periods of time while using tools and machinery and performing repetitive actions.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Temperature of work environment ranges from 15‑110°F.
- Normal work hours Monday‑Friday 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; hours may change at management discretion; overtime required as needed.
