Welder – Big Top Manufacturing
Join Big Top Manufacturing to contribute to the production of high-performance fabric structures. This role is a fixed-welding station position reporting to the Weld Shop Supervisor.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
- Read sketches and build products accordingly; check pieces in process against sketches.
- Apply the correct type and quality of weld as directed.
- Minimize material waste.
- Take care of and perform preventive maintenance of the equipment in use.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents and near misses to supervisor.
- Assist in training new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
- Follow instructions given by supervisor.
- Maintain housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities
- Occasional travel may be required. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Team player.
- Time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency with cutting torch, grinder, saws, speed square, level and framing square.
- Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
- Must successfully complete Big Top welding test.
- Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years welding experience or graduation from a certified welding program preferred.
- Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
- Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
- Ability to remain at workstation for long periods of time while using tools and machinery and performing repetitive actions.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110°F.
- Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
