The New Product Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to:
1) develop and execute the project plan and maintain schedule,
2) track adherence to product cost target and project budget, and
3) ensure compliance to project scope. The overall goal is the optimization of individual projects within a complex multiple-project system, where velocity of the entire project portfolio is the priority. In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
* Manage projects from conceptual approval through completion
* Create a work plan for each phase of the project with input from resource managers and project team members
* Develop and manage project schedules
* Ensure project documentation is created, meets standards, and is properly maintained according to established procedures
* Collaborate with other project managers to manage resources and project needs according to corporate priorities
* Develop and review project requirements with key stakeholders to ensure project scope is accurately defined and managed so that cost and profitability goals are met
* Track and report project budget
* Drives key and timely decisions required to meet project objectives through cooperation with other team members
* Address project-related conflicts and issues in a direct and effective manner
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes
* Coordinate project communication between team members and organizational stakeholders
* Seeks guidance from supervisor and senior level team members related to new assignments and complex decisions
* Meet or exceed typical expectations for leadership, productivity, and safety
* Perform other duties as assigned, including managing special projects unrelated to new product development To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Basic understanding of the new product development process
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, project management, or related field
* NP Project Manager I- needs 0-2 years experience with degree and 3+ years experience with no degree
* NP Project Manager II needs 2-4 years experience with degree and 5+ years experience with no degree
* NP Project Manager III needs 5+ years experience with degree and 7+ years experience with degree
* Proficient with Microsoft Office, working knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus
* Experience with SAP or other ERP system is beneficial
* Keen problem-solving and critical thinking skills
* Basic understanding of critical chain methodology
* Above average competency to identify and resolve conflict
* Ability to assess constraints and elevate when necessary
