Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Collects blood and body fluids according to procedures
- Analyzes using laboratory instrumentation and procedures
- Follows OSHA and biohazard standards
- Seeks assistance as necessary
- Shares on call duties with other personnel
- Generates patient reports, distributes results, and assures proper billing
- Conducts instrument maintenance and documents
- Performs quality control and documents
- Verifies proper operation prior to reporting of results
- Notifies direct report when supplies need ordered
In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Dallas County Hospital needs or requirements.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education/
Experience:
Four-year degree and graduate of an approved school of medical laboratory technology OR two-year associate degree and the HHS registration. One year experience desirable but not necessary.
Technical
Skills:
- Ability to follow technical protocols
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload under pressure
Other qualifications/certificate/license:
- Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP, AMT, AABB.

The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment as well as an ability to access and use information in meaningful ways.
