Job SummaryThe Multi‑Modality Technologist performs duties related to two imaging modalities, which may include performing procedures with related techniques, and/or producing images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
Essential Functions- Performs duties for two modalities within the imaging and/or cardiovascular technology job families (e.g., XR, CT, MRI, ARRT, RDMS).
- Meets continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards.
- Operates equipment and accessories, and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures, and processes of two modalities.
- Selects imaging sequences with consideration given to approved protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
- Obtains patient’s clinical history and appropriate lab work, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Uses POC device for lab work.
- Applies safety principles with a focus on the two modalities to minimize risk to patient, self, and others, preventing patient safety risks, equipment damage, or image quality issues.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s Degree preferred (particularly from an ARRT accredited institute, an approved nuclear medicine technology program, or an approved school of ultrasound/medical sonography).
- Certification and registration with ARRT, RDMS, CNMT, CCI, or ARDMS (required).
- Competent or registered in two of the following and obtain certification within 12 months:
- Bone Densitometry (BD), Breast Sonography (BS), Radiologic Technology (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Ultrasonography (S), Nuclear Medicine (N), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)*, Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Mammography (M), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or ARRT‑Vascular Sonography (VS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
- BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, required prior to direct patient care in Cardiology units).
- State licensure preferred unless required by the state where the job is performed.
