Coating Technician – Essential Duties
The primary responsibilities of the IMCO Coating Technician are to ensure that all procedures are followed in the pre‑coat, coating, and post‑coat process to produce properly coated tools according to the processes and quality levels defined. The Coating Technician will perform other duties as assigned and in support of the Production and/or Coating Departments.
- Pre‑coat – assist with initial washing of tools, loading of fixtures for surface‑prep, and final wash before coat.
- Coat – position tool cart in coat machine; run the coat machine.
- Post‑coat/treat – inspect/measure tool adhesion and coating thickness; post‑treat tools; transport tool trays on carts to predetermined areas.
- Routine, preventative maintenance of coating and/or tool wash machine(s).
- Other duties, as requested by the Coating Center Manager or Executive Management.
- High school diploma or GED required. Experience with tool coating processes a plus!
- Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- Adequate mathematics skills – a math test will be given.
- Adequate communication skills that allow for proper information exchange (receiving and disseminating information).
- Must follow all safety rules to prevent injury to self and others.
- Must be able to ambulate safely in a manufacturing environment, while pushing a tool cart.
- Must have flexibility of hands and fingers to handle tools and tool trays safely.
- Vision abilities required include close and distance vision, ability to differentiate colors on gauges and blueprints, and depth perception.
- Ability to lift and carry items of varying weight not to exceed 45 lbs.
- Ability to push a coating cart loaded with tools to/from the coat machine (less than 50 feet).
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday thru Friday, 7:00a – 4:00p with two 15‑minute paid breaks and a 1‑hour unpaid lunch. Base rate: $18.50/hour.

The Coating Technician will work in a variety of settings, including a coating center (potential contact with chemicals used for coating tools), a tool wash area (potential contact with cleaners, water, residual oils or dusts), and a production area (contact with natural and synthetic oils, and various grinding dusts). Both areas have moderate noise levels and climate control.
