About the Company
A leading housing developer recognised for their high standards with the National House Building Council and a strong pipeline of projects is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join their team. The company offers training and development from day one, alongside the opportunity to progress to Site Manager within 12 months.
Job Duties
Support the Site Manager in the day-to-day management of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Assist in organising and supervising site labour and subcontractors to maintain productivity and quality standards.
Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring site activities adhere to statutory and company policies.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, labour registers, and material deliveries.
Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery and availability of materials and equipment.
Contribute to quality control by inspecting work and liaising with site teams to resolve any issues promptly.
Participate in site meetings, reporting progress and any concerns to the Site Manager or senior management.
Support the implementation of the company’s environmental policies on site.
Required Qualifications
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
Current First Aid at Work certificate.
Full, clean driving licence.
Education
Minimum of GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics. Additional construction-related qualifications are advantageous.
Experience
Previous experience working on new build housing projects is essential.
Demonstrable experience in site supervision or assistant management roles within construction.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of construction processes, particularly in residential developments.
Excellent organisational and communication skills to effectively manage site operations.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications and site management software.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional health and safety training or qualifications.
Experience with environmental and sustainability practises in construction.
Working Conditions
The role is primarily site-based and involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions. The post requires adherence to strict health and safety standards. Full-time hours are expected, with some flexibility to meet project demands including occasional early starts or late finishes
