Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 1

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children? Are you inclusive, resilient, flexible and passionate about helping every child to thrive?

Would you love to work alongside a team of dedicated and highly skilled professionals who put children at the heart of everything they do?

If so, we would love to hear from you. Abbey Park Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 1 team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in supporting children to overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and independence, and become the very best versions of themselves.

We are an inclusive school providing education for children from 2 to 12 years old. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively as a team, ensuring that every child receives the support, challenge and encouragement they need to achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support children both academically and pastorally. You will help create a nurturing, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

About The Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic team member to join us in this permanent, full-time position of 32 hours and 5 minutes per week.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with children and will hold a Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics.

You will need to be:

  • A nurturing and caring adult who builds positive relationships with children.
  • Inclusive and committed to ensuring that every child belongs.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenges.
  • Flexible and able to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
  • An innovative and enthusiastic team player.
  • Committed to high standards of learning, behaviour and achievement.
  • Able to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals.
  • Passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Our inclusive school

Abbey Park Primary School has a Mainstream Autism Base and a significantly higher proportion of children with complex additional needs than the national average.

As a result, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusion and who wants to develop their experience of supporting children with a wide range of needs.

A Special Needs Allowance will be payable, as the role will involve supporting children with complex needs.

Above all, we are looking for someone who believes that every child can achieve and thrive when they are given the right support, encouragement and opportunities.

At Abbey Park, our vision is simple:

Belong. Achieve. Thrive.

These three words underpin everything we do.

If you are excited by the opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's lives and would like to become part of our dedicated and supportive team, we would love to hear from you.
