Mechanical & Electrical Field Service Engineer About the Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical & Electrical Field Service Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in supporting customers across the full lifecycle of our equipment.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining workshop-based engineering with customer site support. You’ll be involved in everything from machine assembly and installation through to commissioning, fault finding, preventative maintenance and customer training.
You’ll work directly with customers across the UK and internationally, helping them get the best possible performance, reliability and uptime from their equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing Field Service & Customer Support
- Install, commission and validate new machinery at customer sites.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control system faults.
- Investigate machine performance issues and identify practical, effective solutions.
- Provide operator and maintenance training to customer teams.
- Carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and customer demonstrations.
- Complete clear and accurate service reports following customer visits.
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide a professional, knowledgeable service.
- Help customers maximise machine performance, reliability and uptime.
- Provide on-site support across the UK, with opportunities for international travel to support our global customer base.
Technical Support
- Provide remote technical support via telephone, email and remote access software.
- Work closely with the Service Department to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively.
- Identify and escalate opportunities for design, software or product improvements.
- Support the planning and preparation of installations and commissioning activities before visiting customers.
Machine Assembly & Production
When you’re not out on customer sites, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with in-house machine build and assembly, including:
- Mechanical assembly of pharmaceutical packaging equipment such as:
- Electronic Tablet Counters
- Bottle Unscramble rs
- Conveyors
- Tablet Elevators
- Bottle Handling Systems
- Labelling Systems
- Bespoke Automation Equipment
- Electrical wiring of machinery and control panels.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams and mechanical drawings.
- Carrying out electrical testing and verification of completed machinery.
- Identifying and recording drawing or design improvements during assembly.
- Supporting the Production team during periods of increased workload.
Continuous Improvement
You’ll also have the opportunity to make a real contribution to how we develop our equipment and services by:
- Identifying ways to improve equipment reliability and serviceability.
- Sharing technical feedback with Engineering, Design and Production teams.
- Using your experience from customer sites to support product development.
- Contributing ideas that improve our machines, processes and customer experience.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping in line with our 6S principles.
What We’re Looking For Essential Skills & Experience
We’re looking for an engineer who can combine strong technical skills with a customer-focused approach.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience servicing automated manufacturing or packaging machinery.
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- The ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience working with pneumatic systems.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The confidence to work independently at customer sites.
- A willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
