The Lead Cardiovascular Tech will assist physicians with all invasive cardiovascular procedures and circulatory support devices (e.g., IABP, Impella). Responsibilities include evaluating and implementing new technologies, adhering to protocols for clinical research trials, and supporting departmental quality initiatives. The role involves conferring with management to improve Cardiac Cath Lab functions.
Responsibilities- Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for procedures.
- Oversee maintenance, calibration, and quality control of diagnostic and technical equipment.
- Participate in staff scheduling, training, and competency assessments.
- Engage in quality and performance improvement initiatives (e.g., ACC-NCDR, regulatory compliance).
- Coordinate with Radiation Safety Officer and monitor radiation safety programs.
- Assist with evaluation of new equipment and technology for the lab.
- Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias.
- Operate and maneuver equipment as requested by physicians, including fluoroscopy (technologist role).
- Orient new physicians and technologists to lab equipment.
- Support emergency patient care as needed.
- Ensure safety and aseptic techniques are followed.
- Adhere to safety standards and organizational values.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health sciences.
- Experience in invasive procedures or special radiology procedures.
- Diagnostic Radiography License.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
