The Manager of Patient Safety and Quality collaborates with the Director of Patient Safety & Quality to lead quality & safety improvement initiatives. They work with various groups, clinical transformation services, and quality councils to achieve sustainable outcomes through project management, process mapping, reliability science, evidence-based practices, and quality strategies. They support accreditation standards and coordinate investigations with agencies like the Joint Commission and Department of Health.

Responsibilities

  • Orient and mentor new team members; provide performance feedback.
  • Lead patient safety & quality initiatives using safety science principles.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, NJ Codes, OSHA).
  • Chair organizational committees and facilitate regulatory activities.
  • Coordinate regulatory surveys and develop hospital-wide training programs.
  • Lead teams around quality & safety projects, identify improvement priorities, and utilize data-driven strategies.
  • Promote event reporting, transparency, and safety culture.
  • Develop metrics, reports, and provide feedback on safety & quality initiatives.
  • Manage event referrals, escalation, and safety trend analysis.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field; 5+ years in healthcare quality, patient safety, or regulatory compliance; experience in Performance Improvement; knowledge of standards like The Joint Commission; excellent communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite.

Preferred:
Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare; certification as a Professional in Patient Safety;
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.
