This employee has the responsibility for coordination of total resident care. The Nursing Supervisor performs supervisory and professional duties in directing and coordinating all nursing units. The individual must have advanced training and broad nursing experience including supervisory duties. The work requires administrative ability, knowledge of training techniques, ability to adapt procedures in unusual situations, and initiative and good judgment. Work is carried out according to standards of professional nursing practices, facility policies, rules and regulations, and State and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current registration with the state board of nursing.
- Experience in the nursing field.
- Supervisory experience in long‑term care is required.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of specialized procedures and equipment applied to the area assigned.
- Knowledge of dietetics, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
- Knowledge of medications, dosage, and expected results.
- Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment.
- Ability to coordinate and supervise nursing functions effectively.
- Empathetic attitude toward residents; ability to gain their confidence.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written technical instructions.
- Ability to recognize and identify symptoms and make quick decisions in emergencies.
- Skill in training subordinates and organizing training conducted by the staff.
- Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Interacts with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Carries out other tasks as requested in situations requiring hands‑on intervention or participation.
