Graduate Unqualified Teacher

Are you a high-achieving graduate with a passion for education? Do you have the confidence and subject expertise to inspire secondary school students? Are you looking for a clear pathway into teacher training while earning a competitive salary? A highly regarded secondary school in Northampton is seeking a Graduate Unqualified Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious graduates who are considering a career in teaching and want to gain invaluable classroom experience before committing to formal teacher training.

Starting in this role, you will earn a salary between £25,000 and £30,000, with the opportunity to progress onto a salaried teacher training programme in your second year. This makes it an ideal stepping stone for graduates who want to “earn while they learn” and build real-world teaching skills from day one.

The school is particularly interested in graduates from high-demand subject areas, including English, Mathematics, Science, Languages, and Humanities. As a Graduate Unqualified Teacher, you will support pupils across KS3 and KS4, working closely with experienced teachers to deliver engaging lessons, provide targeted interventions, and help raise attainment across your subject specialism.

Responsibilities

You will gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows, including planning and delivering lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and tracking student progress. The school has a strong mentoring culture, ensuring you receive consistent guidance, feedback, and professional development throughout your time in the role.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a high‑calibre graduate (2:1 or above preferred) from a leading university, with excellent subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for working with young people. Strong communication skills, resilience, and a proactive attitude are essential, as you will be stepping into a dynamic and rewarding school environment.

Benefits
  • A competitive starting salary of £25,000–£30,000
  • Full-time, long-term stability in a supportive school
  • A clear and structured route into teacher training in year two
  • Ongoing mentoring and professional development
  • The chance to make a real impact on students’ academic journeys

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are serious about a career in education and want to gain hands‑on experience in a thriving Northampton secondary school.
