In Brent, you will contribute to a collaborative outreach offer that builds capacity, shares expertise and ensures that every child with SEND can thrive in their local community.
The RoleIn this exciting role, you will work as part of Brent’s multi-disciplinary Early Years Inclusion Support Team, supporting the development of high-quality early years SEND provision across settings throughout the borough.
You will play a key role in supporting and advising SENCOs across the Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) sector, as well as within maintained nursery settings, helping them implement the SEND Code of Practice 2014 through the graduated approach and strong Ordinarily Available Provision.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact during the earliest stages of a child’s development, helping ensure children with SEND and their families receive the right support at the right time.
Key responsibilities include:- Supporting and advising early years settings to strengthen SEND provision and inclusive practice
- Working alongside SENCOs to implement the SEND Code of Practice through the graduated approach
- Providing information, advice and signposting to families and professionals accessing the service
- Working collaboratively with parents, schools and multi‑agency partners
- Delivering both in‑person and virtual support to SENCOs and staff groups across Brent
- Planning and delivering specialist Early Years SEND training
- Modelling targeted interventions and inclusive strategies within settings
- Supporting early identification and intervention for young children with additional needs
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Early Years teacher who is committed to improving outcomes for young children with SEND and their families.
You will:- Have significant experience working as a teacher and as, or alongside, a SENCO supporting young children with a range of additional needs and disabilities
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to early identification, early intervention and high‑quality Ordinarily Available Provision
- Be a strong advocate for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
- Have high expectations and aspirations for children and young people
- Bring experience of planning and delivering training for staff
- Have experience working effectively with parents and multi‑agency partners
- Demonstrate strong IT skills alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be organised, proactive and adaptable in your approach
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
