Position: Cover Supervisor at The Thomas Hardye School

About the role

We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to supervise and support students during the short‑term absence of teaching staff. You will manage behaviour, engage and motivate students to remain on task and complete work to the best of their ability.

Key responsibilities

Supervise and support students during short‑term absences, manage behaviour, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure continuity of learning while teachers are absent.

Qualifications and requirements
  • Enthusiastic and committed to the learning needs of all young people.
  • Good at building relationships with young people and other adults.
  • Qualified to at least level 2 (grade C or 4 and above at GCSE) in English and Maths.
  • Able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in managing whole classes or large groups of students in a school setting.
  • Required to hold a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the government’s safer recruitment guidelines.
  • Right to work in the UK must be established.
Employment terms
  • Term time only, 39 weeks plus inset days.
  • 31.5 hours per week.
  • Annual salary £19,643 to £21,632 (pro rata, pay award pending). Salary paid in equal monthly instalments and adjusted at the start of employment and if leaving part‑way through the school year.
