Principal Mechanical Engineer

Location

UK - Glasgow - 177 Bothwell Street

Responsibilities
  • Prepare feasibility studies, outline design, detailed design and construction support
  • Produce plant layouts, design drawings and mechanical plant selection including specifications, WIMES Data Sheets, valve schedules, equipment schedules, lifting strategies, hydraulic head‑loss calculations and P&IDs for water projects
  • Liaise and collaborate with water and other discipline teams including civil, electrical, process and mechanical engineers nationwide
  • Visit sites to carry surveys and support liaisons with clients, contractors & suppliers
  • Lead and contribute to design review meetings such as HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs and SWIFTS
  • Act as Mechanical Lead on projects including WwTW, WTW and infrastructure, supporting the Project Manager and Design Lead to deliver the mechanical scope within programme and budget
  • Assist the Project Manager in setting realistic programmes and budgets for mechanical projects
  • Manage Mechanical Graduate, Engineer and Senior Engineers as a line manager

Qualifications
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution such as IMechE
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, technical specifications and calculations with confidence and precision
  • Hands‑on experience delivering innovative solutions for water and wastewater engineering projects
