For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400+ car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

We are looking for a Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Management System Lead to join our SSEN Transmission SHW team. In this critical role, you will ensure the robustness and compliance of our SHW Management System, aligning it with SSE Group standards, ISO standards , and legal requirements.

The primary objective of the role is to develop, maintain, and implement a certifiable SHW Management System that supports the business in mitigating SHW risks and continuously improving SHW performance.

You will
  • Develop, maintain and track implement of SHW procedures in consultation with business unit wide stakeholders supporting the business in ensuring consistent application of the SHW requirements.
  • Ensure the Management System is aligned with the ISO 45001 and 45003 standards and coordinate and contribute to the external ISO certification audits.
  • Support the wider SHW team and business unit with support in implementation of SHW improvements linked to the SHW strategy and SHW annual improvement plan.
  • Develop proactive risk strategies and support with risk reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor compliance with SHW management system requirements and maintain SHW specific action trackers and key performance indicators.
  • Act as a key liaison between the SHW team and business stakeholders, ensuring effective communication of SHW standards and updates.
You have
  • Extensive experience in the application of SHW Management Systems in electricity networks, major construction, or complex industrial / utilities environments.
  • Degree in SHW or graduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) with proven experience in safety and risk management.
  • Membership of IOSH (or equivalent organisation) is also preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SHW legal frameworks, ISO 45001 and ISO 45003, industry regulations, policy development, risk assessment and best practices within a high-risk industry.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and support all level of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering a high-performance SHW culture within the organisation.
