This is an exciting opportunity to join our well established Climate Change and Zero Waste Team with the aim to help deliver waste and resources elements in our soon-to-be published Circular Economy Strategy.
We have a fixed term vacancy for a Co-ordinator who will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Community Waste Team who offer help and support to residents, communities and housing associations, amongst others in ensuring maximum participation in household recycling services, reducing residual waste, review public toilet and comfort scheme provisions and compliance with Council's statutory obligations on waste/resource and litter related issues.
Along with this is the requirement to meet the Scottish Governments targets and ambitions. You will be expected to contribute to the development of new strategies, review current relevant related waste and litter strategies as well as assist with the roll out of any new services and initiatives.
In order to undertake the above, there is an expectation that the postholder will have knowledge of current waste, recycling legislation and policy along with an awareness of the many changes due to be implemented in the upcoming years.
This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 2 days office/depot based.

Skills & Experience RequiredWhat we need:

- Proficient IT skills.
- Good attention to detail and have the ability to keep accurate records.
- A team motivator, mentor and leader.
You will be someone who can:
- Prioritise workloads effectively, reprioritising as and when required.
- Prepare and present coherent written material, reports and presentations.
- Produce high quality work to required deadlines.
- Interact with a range of people and teams both internally and externally.
- Illustrate a strong customer focus.
- Work with a range of external organisations, stakeholders and contractors.
Skills & Experience:
- You will be educated to Degree level or equivalent, or have a minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
- Whilst not essential a Project Management qualification is desirable, along with a relevant Professional Membership of a Waste, Procurement or Financial Institute.
- An awareness and understanding of the waste management industry and waste legislation is required.
- Financial awareness and ability to manage budgets.
- Strategy development.
- An understanding and awareness of Health & Safety requirements (IOSHH and risk assessment qualification is advantageous).
- Awareness of procurement processes and management of contracts.
Whilst not a common occurrence you will be willing to work in all weathers and be flexible to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
You must have a valid driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. (Ownership of a car is not necessary as pool cars are available).
