Team Lead Occupational Therapy - Community Rehab & Discharge

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro‑ra to. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Are you a quick‑thinking, flexible and confident Occupational Therapist ready to lead a fast‑paced integrated community team? Can you navigate the challenges of working at the interface of hospital and community, supporting people home from hospital in a timely manner and preventing other people from being admitted to hospital unnecessarily? If so we have two Team Lead posts in our friendly, supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Occupational Therapists and Assistant Practitioners across Discharge to Assess, Prevention of Admission and Reablement work streams.
• Work as part of an integrated team with Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners and Community Therapy assistants on a daily basis.
• Facilitate effective discharge planning and support people to remain at home rather than being admitted to hospital.
• Possibly be based in one of four Community bases throughout the city, depending on priority needs of the service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working in a rehabilitation or community setting with highly developed discharge planning skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate clearly, kindly and effectively.
• Evidence of leadership experience or the capacity to lead a multidisciplinary team.

The successful applicant will have the choice of being employed by City of Edinburgh Council or NHS Lothian. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
