Base

Location:

You'll be expected to spend at least 50% of your working week in one of the following locations:
Perth, Glasgow or Reading, or around the Distribution depot estate in the North of Scotland or South Central coast of England

Salary:Circa £160,000 + performance-related bonus + car/cash allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Distribution is at the heart of delivering a safe, reliable and sustainable electricity network for the communities we serve, today and tomorrow. At a time of significant growth and transformation, as HR Director, you'll be the senior HR leader for our regulated Distribution business, partnering directly with the Managing Director, the Distribution Executive Committee and Group HR Director to shape and deliver the people strategy that enables our business objectives.

A key member of both the Distribution Executive Committee and HR Leadership Team, you'll play a critical role in influencing business strategy through a people, organisation, technology and culture lens. You'll ensure we have the leadership capability, workforce resilience, culture and organisational effectiveness required to deliver today while preparing for the future.

This is a highly visible executive leadership role, responsible for leading a strategic HR partnering model across Distribution and driving impactful workforce, talent, transformation and culture initiatives across a complex, safety-critical and regulated environment. Embracing new and emerging technologies, you’ll collaborate with our technology, data and digital function shaping work and role design creating a colleague experience that is inclusive, effective and empowering.

You

will
  • Partner with the Managing Director, Distribution Executive Committee and Group HR Director to develop and deliver a people strategy that enables business performance, workforce resilience and regulatory success.
  • Act as the senior people voice within the Distribution Executive Committee, influencing strategic decisions on organisation design, culture, leadership capability, workforce planning, transformation and modernisation of work practices.
  • Lead large-scale organisational change and transformation initiatives, ensuring both colleague experience and business outcomes are successfully delivered, meeting internal and external requirements.
  • Shape the future workforce through strategic workforce planning, talent management and succession strategies that build critical capability and diverse leadership and technical pipelines.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing HR function, creating an inclusive culture whilst building trusted relationships with senior leaders, trade union partners and external stakeholders.
You have
  • Significant senior HR leadership experience within a large, complex and operationally critical organisation, ideally within a regulated and unionised environment.
  • Deep expertise across organisational design, business transformation, strategic workforce planning, talent, culture, employee relations and leadership development.
  • A proven ability to influence and challenge executive teams, operating as a trusted advisor and contributing to business decisions beyond the HR agenda.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen, using data, insight and judgement to inform strategy, manage risk and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) together with a track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering strategic people outcomes at scale.
