Grade and Salary:Grade 5 -£26,707 - £31,236 per annum

FTE and working pattern:Full Time (1 FTE 5 /7 including weekends and statutory days, monthly rosters subject to change. Additional hours required at peak times), Open Ended

About our Team

This role is based within Hospitality Services, which is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of cleaning the internal public areas and spaces across the Scottish Borders Campus (Jean Muir Student Village and The High Mill) The High Mill spans four floors while the accommodation comprises 218 rooms across three blocks.

Our Scottish Borders campus is located approximately 40 miles from the main Edinburgh Campus, the team is very much an essential and intrinsic part of the Estates and Facilities Directorate

As a significant contributor to the University’s operations, Hospitality Services accounts for nearly 10% of the workforce, with Residential and Cleaning Services representing almost half of that community.

Purpose of Role

To ensure an effective and efficient operation of cleaning services within the Heriot Watt University Scottish Borders campus. Toparticipatein theday-to-day programmes of cleaning work within theallocatedcleaning zones of the University to ensure that the facilities aremaintainedin a clean and hygienic condition.

To actively contribute to the successful delivery of excellent service to all students,staffand visitors across the university by keeping the student accommodation, public areas, offices, meeting rooms, teaching and work spaces clean and tidy and fit for use.

Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities

Day to day responsibility for all Heriot-Watt cleaners, directing, supervising,training and motivating to deliver the cleaning schedule for all the designated areas

Planning and implementing daily work schedules and staffing levels in keeping with the demands of the business

Ensure all buildings, residences, offices, classrooms etc served by the team deliver a positive impression and aremaintainedto meet customer expectations and service level agreements

Work with the Facilities Supervisor, Operations manager and and Deputy Village manager toforwardplan staff and work schedules for all areas to meet the requirements of the business throughout the year

Be responsible and accountable for quality control inspections, audits of accommodation and follow up where required. Manage stock levels and be accountable for same

Essential

Experience of working within a similar environment as outlined above

Experience or relevant qualifications in the hospitality industry

Good numeracy and IT skills

Competent in the use of relevant IT packages

Well-developed interpersonal skills

Demonstrable professional and proactive approach

Demonstrable ability to work quickly,flexibly and accurately in a dynamic,changing and pressured environment

Demonstrable provision of excellent customer service

Willingness to learn

Desirable

Educated toHND level or similaror equivalent experience

Experience of leading small teams of operatives

Experience of supervisory practice and principles

BICS Trainer Certificate

Experience of operating relevant cleaning equipment
