For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Inverness or Glasgow.
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent OR Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The roleOur Regulation, Strategy and Planning Directorate plays a central role in shaping and delivering the transmission infrastructure required across the North of Scotland. As part of this strategic team, you will provide expert advice to the SSEN Transmission Board and Executive Committee on a range of internal and external factors impacting regulatory strategy, programme delivery, and overall business performance.
You will lead cross‑functional teams and foster strong collaboration to unlock the investment essential for a decarbonised power system. This role will support critical outcomes including the UK Government’s Mission Control ambition to deliver clean power by 2030.
This role includes responsibility for leading and managing the submission of regulatory funding applications across a portfolio of strategic projects that align with SSEN Transmission’s long‑term strategy. You will be at the forefront of shaping, negotiating, and delivering these funding arrangements through close engagement with Ofgem and other key stakeholders.

Ability to identify problems, determine causes, propose solutions, and implement them using logical and analytical reasoning.

Strong communication and writing skills to articulate complex issues clearly and accurately.
Experience:
Ability to shape regulatory positioning, not just deliver process. Focus on achieving high standards for evidence, narrative and consistency, delivering high‑quality outputs to tight regulatory timelines. Ability to build trust with both internal teams and external regulators.
