How can you make a difference?
The ECD Officer reports to the Health Specialist for close guidance and supervision. Level 1 is an entry professional level and should therefore be normally used as a trainee level for the purpose of acquiring organizational knowledge of rules, regulations and processes to supplement academic and theoretical knowledge of the profession for upward mobility to higher responsibilities. Incumbents at this level are not expected to remain for an extended period of time in the post.
The ECD Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for Early Childhood Development (ECD) within the health sector, with an integrated focus on nutrition in early childhood, including growth monitoring, anemia prevention, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and early identification of malnutrition.
The Officer applies theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing and presenting technical programme information related to ECD and nutrition, while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support ECD–health–nutrition programme formulation under the Country Programme.

Minimum Requirements And Desirables
- Education:
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, nutrition, child development, family studies, or another relevant technical field. - Work Experience:
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in early childhood development and/or nutrition‑related areas is required in social development planning and management. Three or more years of professional experience will be considered an asset.
- At least one year or more of working experience in early childhood nutrition (breastfeeding, complementary feeding, growth monitoring, anemia prevention) is an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is highly desirable.
- Language Requirements:
- Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English are required. Knowledge of another indigenous language of Peru is considered an asset (Quechua, Kandoshi, Shipibo, etc).
- Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
