The primary responsibility of the Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is to provide care for residents under the direction of nursing and medical staff.

• Obtain and record patient's vital signs and weight.
• Administer and document medications following physicians' orders, including oral, topical, and suppository medications, as well as eye and ear drops.
• Participate in all in-service programs to expand abilities and maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA, Fire Safety, and Disaster Preparedness.
• Perform treatments not requiring a licensed nurse, such as hot/cold applications and vital signs, using the procedure manual and standard precautions.
• Observe, record, and report medication effects and other observations.
• Take vital signs as needed before medication administration.
• Provide direct resident care and function as a CNA when not administering medications.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• QMA Certificate in good standing and current CNA Certificate.
• One year of experience in a long-term care setting preferred.

• Sit, stand, bend, walk, and lift/move up to 100 pounds.
• Visual and auditory ability for communication.
• Moderate noise level in the environment.
