Northern California Sales position - Public Power Utilities
We are seeking a dynamic and results‑oriented professional to join our team as a Territory Manager with Sales Responsibilities in the electric utility industry. This role will be based in Northern California and requires a unique combination of customer‑relationship management, sales acumen, and some technical expertise. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in understanding customer needs, providing technical solutions, and driving revenue growth within the electric utility sector.
Responsibilities- Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and qualify new sales opportunities and potential lines within the electric utility industry.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision‑makers and influencers in target accounts.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets in defined programs.
- Support outside sales in on‑site visits to understand customer requirements and provide technical consultations.
- Deliver product demonstrations and presentations to potential customers.
- Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any technical issues.
- Market Analysis:
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and industry regulations.
- Analyze market data to identify new opportunities and potential areas for growth.
- Provide feedback to the product development teams based on customer needs and market demands.
- Project Management:
- Organize and conduct recurring calls with end‑users, manufacturers, and/or distributors for major Cap Ex projects and initiatives.
- Monitor shipping schedules vs project schedules. Coordinate with manufacturer customer service to expedite materials that do not meet the customer’s project schedule.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies and coordinate all returns and re‑shipments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Understand and stay updated on the latest developments in electric utility technologies, products, and solutions, especially in the lines the agency represents.
- Collaborate with our manufacturers’ product and engineering teams to develop a deep understanding of the products we sell and their applications.
- Provide technical support and expertise to inside sales, distributors, end‑user utilities, contractors, and all other channel partners during pre‑sales and post‑sales phases.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and technical support to end‑user utility customers, distributors, and channel partners.
- Develop and maintain product knowledge resources for internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience in a sales position.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Results‑driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in technical sales within the electric utility industry.
- Strong understanding of electric utility systems, technologies, and regulatory environment.
