Overview
This senior hydrogeologist position supports our Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Epsom, Glasgow, London, Oxford, Peterborough and Manchester offices, with flexibility across the UK.
We are looking for an experienced hydrogeologist, ideally chartered, who can lead groundwater-related project tasks in the UK and/or internationally as part of a growing Water Management Consultancy portfolio.
Your role- Collaborate with technical leads and other disciplines to win, deliver and manage groundwater projects and develop trusted client relationships.
- Champion high performance standards and influence project development, ensuring accuracy and quality in technical work.
- Undertake and delegate complex problem‑solving, including data gathering, processing, modelling, conceptualisation, reporting, proposal writing and costing.
- Mentor junior staff and review work within the groundwater resources team.
- Work collaboratively with other Water Management Consultancy disciplines on projects related to water supply, strategic planning, resource optimisation and environmental assessment.
- Degree in science, engineering or mathematics with a postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology or related subject; ideally chartered.
- Demonstrable experience as a hydrogeologist in consultancy, water company, regulator or academic settings.
- Experience in water‑resources hydrogeology and hydrology, including Water Industry National Environment Programme investigations, signal and pumping tests, borehole design, groundwater flooding or water‑resource planning.
- Strong knowledge of UK hydrogeology and the operational and environmental regulatory framework of UK water management.
- Experience leading project tasks or entire projects through problem definition, data collection, analysis, interpretation and recommendation.
- Ability to develop innovative approaches to water‑resource challenges.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, report‑writing and presentation skills with an eye for detail.
- Highly motivated, proactive and able to solve challenging problems within a high‑achieving team environment.
- Effective communication at all levels to support collaborative work and build quality client relationships.
- Valid full UK driving licence.
