Principal DutiesThe Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the custom design of large hydro generator components. Technical leadership will span the entire project life cycle—from proposal through contract design, manufacturing, and installation—collaborating closely with local engineering, drafting, manufacturing, and installation teams, as well as external specialists and project management. Occasional travel to customer sites and other Andritz offices is required.
- Optimization of hydro generator mechanical design for proposals, contracts, and studies.
- Analysis of mechanical components using in‑house tools or by developing calculations as necessary.
- Documentation for proposals, technical reports, and customer O&M manuals.
- Review and approval of mechanical drawings to ensure contractual and internal requirements are met.
- Creation of engineering instructions that define technical requirements for manufacturing, installation and testing.
- Disposition of non‑conformances during manufacturing and installation.
- Review and analysis of site data and testing.
- Creation and calibration of design tools.
- Work on R&D projects for development of new generator technologies.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
- Existing or potential for Professional Engineer registration.
- Familiarity with MathCAD and Excel.
- Computer skills in common PC applications.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, initiative and creativity.
- Ability to work with people in a team environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel and work with diverse cultures.
