We are seeking a skilled CNC Mechanical Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with CNC machinery, and proficiency in programming and troubleshooting. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of CNC equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines, to meet production goals.
Duties- Setup and operate numerical control (NC) special purpose and conventional program, program machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts.
- Study drawings, manuals specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operation and setup requirements
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machine such as mills, lathes, grinders and shapers
- Calculate and set control to regulate machining parameters such as speed, feeds, coolant flow, parameters as deemed by Engineering
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Fit and assemble parts into complete assemblies according to specifications
- Verify dimension and alignment of assemblies according to specifications
- Install replacement parts in equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
- Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted to office to status of machine issues, repairs, and installation
- Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance
- Industrial Mechanic qualifications with a minimum of 3+ years “hands on” CNC machine repair experience or possess several years of machine repair experience in a similar environment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and drawings
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing various machine tool hydraulic and pneumatic systems including actuators, valves, pumps, and filters
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing machine tool mechanical systems including ball screws, linear rails, guideways, and gearboxes
- Capable of reading & interpreting blueprints and CMM reports
- Ability to use lathe, mill, surface grinder and other machining equipment to help in servicing plant machinery
- Ability to use basic mechanic tools
- Capable of using computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining
- Must be comfortable working independently, however, work as part of a team that includes other trades people and professionals to install, repair and maintain equipment
- Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Familiarity of Okuma, DMG Mori and HAAS machines an asset
