Upholstery Apprentice

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist with:

Fabrication, repair, modification and refurbishment of aircraft seats, divans, sidewalls, and associated components

Re-upholstery of panels, liners, and sidewalls to high degrees of quality and safety

Learn to operate industrial, single, multi-needle sewing machines, sergers, overlocks, piping or binding machines

Work with high-grade leather materials

Interpret blueprints, drawings, and other illustrations or work instructions with some assistance

Learn to plan, prepare, and cut materials to standardized patterns for stitching and fitting to specific requirements

Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments

Must support all company policies and safety programs to include Transport Canada regulations

Communicate effectively with other personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.

Work in accordance with established safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment

Present a clean and neat work area

Help with general clean-up of work area.

Demonstrate professionalism and deliver satisfaction to the internal/external customer

Perform other related duties & responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

Solid verbal and written communication skills;
Must be fluent in English, both spoken and written

Strong working knowledge of Windows and MS Office programs

Must have the ability to multi-task within a team environment

Must be detail-oriented and well organized; demonstrate excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude

Successful candidate will be highly motivated and work effectively under pressure and time constraints

WORKING HOURS:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work or shift patterns may change due to business operational needs. Flexibility is required and at present, the standard hours of work are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

COMPENSATION:
Hourly: $25.00/Hr

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort.

Work involves repetitive, hands‑on tasks requiring sustained physical effort and manual dexterity.

Able to lift and transport up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation

Able to wear protective equipment for extended periods of time including particle masks, goggles, assorted gloves, head bonnets, and disposable protective suits.

Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing.
