HOURS OF WORK

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The RN, as one of the providers of health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards.

WHAT

YOU’LL BRING
  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS Glucometer certification required
  • Evacuation training
  • Safe Patient Handling and Violence Prevention Training preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Previous clinical practice in Complex Continuing Care and or Palliative Care is preferred
  • Courses in Gerontology, Behavioural Management, Conflict Resolution, Pain Management, LEAP preferred
WHO YOU ARE
  • Added Nursing Skills - Venipuncture, IV initiation, medication, CVADs, set-up and maintain G-tubes, insert catheters and performs manual irrigations, initiates and maintains CADD and Hickman lines
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and coordination of care and resources for residents
  • Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients/families, staff, physicians and the community
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Demonstrated ability to work toward the achievement of goals and objectives and initiate appropriate revisions when necessary for their patients or for the unit
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and handle multiple demands at a time
  • Demonstrated initiative and enthusiasm in a previous/present work experience
