Hours of Work

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

What You’ll Do

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) provides expert clinical leadership in acute pain management while supporting excellence in patient care, education, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, the APN provides consultation for patients with complex pain management needs, supports staff development, and leads initiatives that improve clinical practice and patient outcomes across the organization.

What You’ll Bring Required
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Minimum five (5) years of recent clinical nursing experience in acute care, including experience with surgical patients and advanced pain management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing patients receiving epidural, PCA, intrathecal, and multimodal analgesia.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Preferred
  • Additional education in adult education, leadership, quality improvement, implementation science.
  • Experience developing and delivering education for healthcare professionals in both classroom and clinical settings.
  • Leadership training or formal leadership certification.
  • Active membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., RNAO, CNA, CAPA, or other specialty associations).

  • Expert knowledge of acute pain management, including epidural, PCA, intrathecal, and multimodal analgesia.
  • Demonstrated excellence in advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and problem-solving.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and change management skills.
  • Ability to assess learning needs and develop, deliver, and evaluate education using adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, quality improvement methodologies, program evaluation, and knowledge translation.
  • Ability to lead practice change and support implementation of clinical best practices.
