The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.
What You’ll DoThe Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class, who will provide leadership and promote excellence in patient- and family-centered care through expert clinical practice, education and consultation. The NP will address extended wait time to provider assessments and preventable disposition delays by prioritizing ED intake functions. The NP is responsible for providing direct patient care, coordinating care, discharge planning, and coordinating related community and clinical resources.
The NP will engage in ongoing continuing education activities to support the integration of the NP role within the program and practice settings. The NP will operate in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide advanced nursing care, assess, and treat patients needing emergent/urgent care. Additional accountabilities may be negotiated with the NP and program leadership.
- Current Certificate registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario in the extended class required
- Completion of CNO-approved Nurse Practitioner program required
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required
- Successful completion of the College of Nurses (CNO) approved controlled substances education required
- Three to five years related clinical experience required
- Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) membership preferred
- Master’s degree in nursing preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with excellent interpersonal skills…
