A well-established and growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team in a varied client-facing role. The firm works with a broad portfolio of SME clients and prides itself on delivering a high standard of compliance work alongside practical, commercial advice. This position would suit someone currently in practice who is comfortable managing a broad portfolio but is now looking to step into a more progressive environment with greater exposure to advisory work and client responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of SME clients, acting as a key point of contact.
• Prepare statutory accounts and management accounts to a high standard.
• Complete Self-Assessment tax returns for individuals, sole traders, and directors.
• Oversee VAT compliance including MTD submissions and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review payroll, CIS submissions, P11
  
  Ds and related compliance work.
• Support CGT computations and advisory work where required.
• Handle company secretarial duties and Companies House filings.
• Liaise with HMRC on client matters including disclosures and queries.
• Identify process improvements and contribute to efficiency across client delivery.
• Support and mentor junior team members within the practice.

Personal Requirements

• ACCA or ACA qualified (or equivalent).
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong experience managing a mixed SME client portfolio.
• Confident across accounts preparation, VAT, tax and payroll compliance.
• Strong communication skills with a client-facing approach.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Proven ability to manage workload independently with high attention to detail.
