Hours

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Holiday

23 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), increasing by one day per year of service (up to a maximum of 5 days).

About the Junior Accountant role

As a Junior Accountant you will gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of accounting tasks while working towards your professional qualifications. You will assist with bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll processing, and the preparation of financial statements for a diverse client portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced accountants, develop technical skills, and build strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities
  • Preparing year‑end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and LLPs
  • Preparing management accounts
  • Corporate tax returns
  • Personal tax returns
  • VAT returns
  • Delivering excellent client service
  • Working closely with clients, the accounts team and other departments, including direct contact with partners and managers to obtain the required information to prepare accounts
  • Involvement in audit work as and when required
About you
  • Minimum of Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English at GCSE
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel
  • Self‑motivated
  • Organised, efficient with attention to detail
  • Driven and initiative‑bearing
  • Able to reliably commute to the Peterborough office
  • Comfortable in a client‑facing role
  • Dynamic individual with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Highly personable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Logical approach and good with numbers
