At Moore you'll combine studying with real world experience, working within our team to deliver a range of services to our clients, including bookkeeping, year-end accounts, assisting with audits at the client's premises and learning about how AI and cloud software can support clients.

WorkMost of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you'll do at workTHE FIRST YEAR
- You will start by learning the basics through an online bookkeeping course including the difference between credits and debits, sales and purchase, when VAT applies and lots more.
- You will be assigned a Buddy who will be on hand to answer any questions and provide on-the-job training to support your academic learning.
- You will have a personal development plan in place from Day One, providing step by step guidance on what's needed to progress to the next level in your career journey.
- You will learn how to use a variety of different accounting software systems including Sage, Quick Books and Xero.
- You will learn how to prepare draft working papers to support the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and small limited companies.
- You will often work onsite at clients' to assist with audit fieldwork supporting the rest of the audit team to ensure deadlines are met.
- You will build relationships with clients through communicating with them regularly by requesting information along with answering queries.
YEARS TWO AND THREE
- By the start of your second year, you'll get more involved in the audits, taking a lead in some of the fieldwork.
- You will work closely with other departments within the Firm on tax, payroll and bookkeeping matters.
- You will have the opportunity to sit in client meetings so you can understand how your work is vital to their business.
- You will become a Buddy to a new trainee to further your development.

Course contents
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Record transactional data.
