Overview
We are recruiting a Safer Custody Administrator to join the team at HMP Peterborough. This is a vital support role within the Safer Custody function, providing administrative and coordination support to ensure processes linked to prisoner safety, wellbeing, and risk management are accurately maintained and effectively delivered. The site combines both male and female populations with education, vocational, and wellbeing services to support transition and outcomes for learners, residents, and staff.
Responsibilities- Maintain and update safer custody records including ACCT documentation, concern lines, violence reduction logs, and self-harm monitoring systems.
- Input, verify, and quality-check data across relevant systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Track actions, deadlines, and follow-ups to ensure safeguarding and operational tasks are completed.
- Coordinate safer custody meetings, including scheduling, preparing documentation, and recording notes.
- Manage communication between departments including residential teams, healthcare, and safer custody staff.
- Support reporting requirements by preparing weekly/monthly updates, audits, and management information.
- Demonstrate strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Utilize IT systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) to manage data and reporting.
- Previous experience in a custodial, safeguarding, or public sector environment is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS level (Enhanced Level 1 + Enhanced DBS).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Effective communication style with a calm, approachable manner; able to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Salary: £26,227.50 per annum
- Hours:
37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday - On-site facilities: free meals (where applicable), parking, on-site gym with subsidised membership, and access to healthcare via BUPA.
