Hours: Full-time, 42 hours per week

About the RoleOur client is a family-owned construction business seeking a driven and adaptable Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of retail, commercial and refurbishment projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress into a full Project Manager role. Ideal candidates include those with construction experience or strong transferable skills from a military engineering, logistics or project background
.
You will work closely with experienced Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle while receiving mentoring and professional development.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Project Managers with the delivery of projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover
- Support programme, cost, quality and health & safety compliance
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
- Interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation
- Attend site, client and project meetings and prepare progress reports/minutes
- Assist with cost control, variations, valuations and procurement
- Support quality inspections and defect resolution
- Help with tendering and pre-construction activities when required
- Promote a collaborative, high-standard working culture
- Construction-related qualification (BSc, HNC/HND or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager (or similar) in construction or strong transferable experience from a military engineering/logistics/project background
- Strong understanding of construction processes and commercial awareness
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical information
- Experience coordinating multiple trade disciplines and site teams
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Confidence with Microsoft Office and project tools
- Full UK driving licence (minimum 6 months post-test)
- Proactive, solutions-focused attitude
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- First Aid at Work
- CITB Temporary Works Coordinator
- Experience of commercial / design & build projects
- Understanding of JCT contracts
- Enhanced DBS check required (including Children’s and Adults’ Barred Lists)
- Travel and occasional overnight stays may be required
- Working hours:
Mon–Thu 07:45–17:15 | Fri 07:45–16:45 - Company vehicle with fuel card or allowance
