Salaried​/Locum GP

We are currently seeking to recruit and/or onboard a qualified GP to work in our Urgent Emergency Care Capacity service 8am – 8pm as Salaried or Locum. Various days available across sites – Sawston, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and City Care Centre Peterborough.

What is the UEC Capacity service:

The UEC Capacity service provides essential additional capacity to the Urgent, on the day services offered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Currently there are daily presentations at A&E departments, across all the acute providers that could be dealt with by clinicians in the community. The role of this team is to provide that urgent on the day service that reduces pressures on A&E and the ambulance services and keeps patients out of hospital and safe in the community.

This service is offered out of all 3 sites as above.

What we are looking for:

The post-holder will make him/herself available to:

• Undertake face to face consultations at any of the named sites, handing onward care and management back to the patient’s own GP.
• Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
• Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols and national guidance.
• Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
• Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to local referral protocols and national guidance.
• Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
• Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
• Participate in supporting the wider multi-disciplinary clinical team where necessary.
• In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care in an acute setting.
