An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a specialist interest in Early Pregnancy and Maternal Medicine.
Based primarily at Peterborough City Hospital, you will become part of a dynamic and supportive consultant team delivering high-quality care to a diverse and growing population. The role offers the opportunity to develop your specialist interests while contributing to a busy general obstetrics and gynaecology service, with involvement in early pregnancy, emergency gynaecology and maternal medicine.

Main duties of the jobAs a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with an interest in Early Pregnancy and Maternal Medicine, you will provide high-quality, consultant-led care across obstetrics and gynaecology services, supporting women throughout their pregnancy and gynaecological journey.
You will lead specialist early pregnancy services, contribute to maternal medicine pathways, and maintain a broad general obstetrics and gynaecology practice, including emergency and on-call care. The role includes opportunities to develop specialist interests, provide leadership within the department, and contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, teaching, training and research.
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting junior doctors, midwives and allied health professionals while helping to deliver safe, compassionate and evidence-based care for our diverse patient population.

Job responsibilitiesPlease refer to the Job description attached to find out the main duties for the role of Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with an interest in Early Pregnancy
Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential- MBBS (or equivalent)
- MRCOG or equivalent
- ATSM / SITM in Benign Gynaecology
- CCT and/or inclusion on the Specialist Register of GMC or within six months of the Appointments Advisory Committee
- Full GMC Registration
- Labour Ward ATSM or equivalence or 'grandfathering'
- ATSM / SITM in Hysteroscopy or equivalence or grandfathering
- ATSM / SITM in Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology
- Experience in MDT team working, practice and providing leadership
- Recent active involvement in practical intrapartum obstetrics
- Able to perform outpatient hysteroscopy and Gynaecology / Early Pregnancy scanning
- Broad experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Able to perform laparoscopic surgery for ectopic pregnancy
- Teaching at post- and undergraduate levels
- Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives dignity, privacy, integrity, cultural and religious beliefs
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively in pressure situations
- Good previous attendance record
- Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the post
- Able to demonstrate successful participation in audit
- Evidence of Attendance and presentation at national or international Obstetric and gyne meetings
- Evidence of completed and published research
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Effective written (including record keeping) and verbal communication skills with patients and staff
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact, diplomacy, negotiation and persuasion as well as authority
- Ability to organize and prioritize own workload and participate in learning
- Co-ordinate work with other consultants
