AboutThe Role
We are recruiting an outstanding Tutor to join our well‑established Education Team at Calman Colaiste (16‑25 Specialist College). The role focuses on creating outstanding teaching and learning opportunities for autistic young people and adults with additional complex learning needs. The position requires resilience and a collaborative attitude to deliver high‑quality education.
What will you be doing?- Establish and maintain good working relationships to promote effective curriculum delivery and lead one designated area.
- Teach students according to their educational needs and plan lessons.
- Create a well‑ordered, secure environment ensuring learners’ wellbeing.
- Manage behaviour with confidence and perseverance, following agreed strategies with therapeutic services and parents.
- Assist with ongoing assessment to inform planning and next steps.
- Match tasks and activities to learners’ ability to enable progress.
- Work with college leaders to complete and teach individual pupil plans.
- Liaise effectively with parents and a wide range of professionals.
Experience and qualifications:
- Appropriate teaching qualification (QTS or QTLS) or a foundation degree with willingness to undertake tutor training.
- Experience in an education or related setting.
- Understanding of curriculum to enable planning and delivery.
- Knowledge of SLD/Autism desirable.
- Resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
