Lecturer – Inclusive Learning (SEND)
Salary – £28,582 – £36,084 per annum (depending on experience & qualifications)
Hours – 37 hours per week
Contract – Fixed Term, 6 months
Location – Peterborough

Make a real difference to learners with SEND. Peterborough College is seeking a passionate and committed Lecturer in Inclusive Learning (SEND) to support learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities across Entry Level to Level 1 programmes. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced inclusive learning practitioner to help students develop independence, confidence, employability, and essential English and maths skills
, enabling them to progress successfully into adulthood.
The role includes course co‑ordination and working collaboratively within a supportive faculty that places learners at the heart of everything it does.
You will deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment to learners with a range of needs, including communication, cognition, sensory and SEMH needs. You will create inclusive, engaging learning environments, set meaningful targets, and provide tailored support to ensure every learner can achieve their potential.
You will also contribute to curriculum design, quality assurance, work experience provision and learner progression, ensuring provision meets professional standards and college expectations.
Key responsibilities- Delivering inclusive, high‑quality teaching and assessment aligned to Professional Teaching Standards
- Teaching accredited and non‑accredited programmes from Entry Level to Level 1
- Coordinating courses within the Inclusive Learning curriculum
- Developing schemes of work, learning materials, group profiles and ILT resources
- Assessing learner progress, setting SMART targets and implementing appropriate interventions
- Delivering academic tutorials and providing personalised feedback and guidance
- Embedding English, maths, employability and independence skills into all learning activities
- Supporting and monitoring work experience placements and liaising with employers
- Carrying out assessment and internal verification in line with awarding body and College requirements
- Contributing to course reviews, quality improvement and curriculum development
- Participating in recruitment activities, open events, trips and enrichment activities
- Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion at all times
- Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTTLS)
- Relevant qualifications in SEND or inclusive learning (minimum Level 3/4)
- Recent experience working in inclusive learning/SEND settings
- Strong knowledge of SEND practice and strategies
- Experience embedding English and maths into curriculum delivery
- The ability to inspire, motivate and manage positive learner behaviour
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Experience in Further Education, course coordination, and internal verification is desirable.
