About the role:
A supportive and forward‑thinking SEND school in Peterborough is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teacher to join their team full‑time, starting ASAP. The school caters for children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The school provides a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment where pupils are supported to develop academic skills, independence, communication, and emotional resilience. Teaching is highly personalised, with a strong focus on adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs and enable pupils to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.
- Create and maintain a structured, supportive, and predictable classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional regulation.
- Adapt teaching strategies, resources, and assessment methods to ensure all pupils can access and progress within the curriculum.
- Support the development of pupils’ communication, independence, and social skills alongside academic learning.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic support for each pupil.
- Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to EHCP targets, reviews, and individual support plans.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent, trauma‑informed and inclusive approaches aligned with the school’s values.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teachers welcomed.
- Experience teaching pupils with special educational needs, either within a SEND setting or through inclusive mainstream practice.
- A strong understanding of a range of SEND, including autism, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods creatively and confidently to meet individual learning styles and needs.
A calm, patient, and reflective teaching approach with a genuine commitment to inclusive education. - Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
