September 2026 Salary: MPS/UPS SEN Allowance 1 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEN Teacher to join a well-established Local Authority-run Autism Support Provision in Basildon from September 2026. This specialist provision supports a small group of 8 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All pupils are verbal and benefit from a structured, nurturing environment that promotes independence, communication and academic progress.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and delivering a tailored curriculum, working within an established autism framework and supported by a dedicated team of professionals committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
The Role As the SEN Teacher, you will:
Lead teaching and learning within a specialist autism provision Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual needs Use autism-specific strategies to support learning, communication and social development Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews Work collaboratively with support staff, families and external agencies Create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Has proven experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly Autism Demonstrates excellent classroom management and behaviour support strategies Has a strong understanding of autism-friendly teaching approaches Is confident leading a small specialist class and managing support staff Is passionate about improving outcomes for children with additional needs What's On Offer SEN Allowance 1 Small class size of 8 pupils Established Autism Support Provision Comprehensive planning and autism framework already in place Supportive Local Authority environment Opportunity to secure a permanent position from September The school is keen to meet suitable candidates as soon as possible.
While the intention is to appoint permanently, a temporary-to-permanent arrangement may be considered for the right individual. At a minimum, the successful candidate would be engaged for the autumn term. Early applications are encouraged as interviews will be arranged on a rolling basis.
